Maui was named Condé Nast Traveler’s best island in the U.S. for the 23 rd consecutive year in the publication’s 2016 Reader’s Choice Awards.
Hawaii’s four major islands made the top 10 list with Oahu taking the No. 2 spot, Kauai coming in at No. 6 and the Big Island ranking No. 8.
“For Maui to be recognized by the readers of Condé Nast Traveler as the best island in the U.S. for 23 years in a row is a tremendous honor and recognition of the incredible work our industry partners proudly put into their products and guest services,” Sherry Duong, executive director of the Maui Visitors and Convention Bureau, said in a Tuesday statement. “I extend my congratulations and appreciation to everyone on Maui who ensures that travelers are greeted with aloha and a lifetime of unforgettable memories and experiences found nowhere else in the world.”
Ranked by readers, Maui received a score of 88.43 while Oahu scored 86.91, Kauai 85.58 and the Big Island 84.02.
Of "The 30 Best Resorts in Hawaii," Maui dominated the top five. Coming in at No. 1 was the Andaz Maui at Wailea followed by Montage Kapalua Bay, Wailea Beach Villas, Hotel Wailea and Travaasa Hana.
We love doing weddings at the Hotel Wailea, with their private ocean view lawn and gazebo, and the ability to go right into the reception as well as lodge there!
